Halloween Howls, Yowls, Growls and 'No Scowls' ShapeShifter Lovers!
What do I say? Except life does not cooperate with my best laid writing plans. Still, here ya go...
Kymbra and Dangerous, their story continuous...
Tears slid down her cheeks as if the gray sky above opened, pouring sheets of rain. Kymbra walked along the wide forest path between amazingly beautiful trees. O[der guardians, their autumn leaves were magic, a colorful carpet for nature lovers.
Able to see through her tears, Kymbra kept moving, part of her singing with joy. She could fully walk again. Normally. "Improving everyday," she muttered to herself.
Yet, a deep inconsolable sadness enveloped, overwhelmed her. Precious humans, the organic life of Mother Earth--the animals, the plants--everyone, every being, everything good and wonderful on blue-marble Earth had been placed on the chopping block...on the darkside's sacrificial altar...to be artificially altered by a constant onslaught of genetic-biowarfare contamination.
So uttered by the U.S. leader via a recent executive order.
Kymbra wept harder, stopped in her tracks.
Wildly on fire with passion, Dangerous loped toward her, the woman who enchanted his soul. Kymbra.
Having finished his border patrol, Danger transitioned from his wolf form to human form. Transformation complete, he whipped to a halt next to the old-shaman tree where he'd stashed his clothing, his Colt 45 pistol.
"Yeah, pal," he affectionately slapped the tree's huge gnarly trunk. "i'm a love-struck gonner."
Shaman Tree spiraled his tremendous force around Dangerous imparting knowledge, his recent observations. "Gotcha, oh Wise One. We'll take care of those bad spying troublesome squirrels. The youn'uns will enjoy that hunt...yeah, yeah, only the evil bushy long tails, I'll remind them."
After adjusting his gun belt, Dangerous patted Shaman Tree, then sprinted toward Kymbra, Her distress smacked him like a giant paw.
Feeling the sizzle of the Danger Man inside her, Kymbra sniffled away her tears and wiped her face. She moved her feet. Yep, he'd told her he would meet her on the forest trail after his patrol.
Kymbra straightened. "Buck up, buttercup. Suck it up, whimpering pup."
To help her mood, Kymbra recalled last evening's party with Danger's cowboy friends, their families. It was: Come As Your Favorite Witch and Familiar.
She smiled. He'd been totally magnificent as a terrible but cuddly werewolf pet, complete with a big ole chain leash.
Playfully, at one point, Danger fought off Halloween-monster enemies to protect her. He'd then chomped down an enormous vaxx needle aimed at her by a nurse clown werewolf.
She'd giggled her way through the fang-tastic mockery.
"Kymbra, what's wrong?" Dangerous tipped up his Kymbra's chin. "No, don't give me the 'everything is okay' face."
Teardrops formed in the corners of her eyes. Her brave face crumbled as she dropped her head. "They're killing everything...murdering the Earth."
She choked back a sob. "I love humanity...your supernatural people here. Everyone. I love our Mother Earth...all the beautiful incredible animals and plants. They're, the globalist Satanic idjits, are, are..."
"I know, sweetheart." Dangerous drew her close, tenderly embracing his human woman, "I know about the global genetic contamination."
Another sob escaped Kymbra. She flung her arms around his neck, clinging. Even as he felt her emotional pain, Dangerous rejoiced. His beautiful one trusted him more than ever. A treasure, a triumph that hugged his heart.
"Kymbra, sweetheart, listen to me. We have winning strategies...I promise. All of us here in Wolf Peak are working hard, fighting hard to stop this ruthless bio-carnage."
She pulled back a bit, scanning his face. "How?" Kymbra stifled her weeping.
"You know I can't reveal it all, darlin'. Not yet." Dangerous stroked his hand over her luxurious hair. "But it's why we need you on our team, our Peak fighting force. You got some unique talents."
"So I keep being told."
"It's true." He touched his lips to her temple, then rocked her, comforting her. Wolves knew these thing instinctively, how to gently handle their females.
Sensing Kymbra's return to calm, Dangerous intimately whispered, "You are going to wear that purple witch costume tonight."
"Only for you. You big bad handsome wolf."
"Looks like we have company." Kymbra stood on tiptoe stretching to see over Dangerous's shoulder.
"Yeah, darlin'?"
Aware that the Danger Man knew who approached Kymbra didn't object as he claimed her waist swinging them around. The cowboy knew how to press his romantic advantage. No doubt.
"Pardon the intrusion, friends." Tall, dark, and handsome, Pasha's mate, White Fang gave his trademark grin. "Lady Kymbra," he intoned as if she was royalty. He respectfully bowed his head.
"Problem?" Dangerous asked.
"Run and gun situation, compadre. Intruders causing mischief at the Cosmos wildflower meadow."
The Danger Man released her with slick ease. "This won't take long."
Kymbra merely nodded, stepping back as he and White Fang raced down the path. "Lightning speed. Wow."
A few moments later Mist trotted toward her, announcing her presence with a whinny. Silvery gray in color, the Arab-Welsh cross was smallish in size, refined, and gorgeous, of course.
Immaculately trained, and amazingly intelligent...also a pet, Mist nuzzled Kymbra sweetly., then performed a bow so she could easily be mounted. Danger had gifted the filly to her, explaining the pony would be her shadow in case Kymbra needed a ride.
Giving Mist a quick hug, Kymbra eased herself onto the filly, who waited patiently until she was firmly seated before rising.
"I am so grateful for you, Mist. Let's go home. I promise treats no tricks."
Dangerous lightened his body weight as the Super Man Wolf imitated a famous comic book character. Sweeping downward, White Fang lifted him into the air, and they flew toward the Cosmos flower meadow--a favorite of the various fae tribes, tiny to human size, living in Wolf Peak.
A battle raged. In the autumn sunshine, aimed at the malevolent intruders, swords and bolts of magick flashed. Yep, like a plasma light show in one of the Peak's dance clubs.
Just smaller than chimps, hordes of savage, mud colored gargoyles fiendishly darted in and out. Menacing the fae defenders, they bit with razor-sharp teeth, struck with blade-large claws--and tried gobbling up the smaller fairies.
Wisely hidden beneath clusters of flower petals, the wee warriors stabbed the gargoyle's paw pads with knives of light. The beasts grunted out screams of pain, yet jumped forward continuing to attack.
The stench of plasma-sliced flesh hung as if it was a manufactured fog--hung above the acres-enormous meadow searing Dangerous's nostrils as he and White Fang landed in the midst of the chaotic melee.
Holy howls yep, these gargoyles were bio-mutated creatures, a vicious product of some mad-scientist lab complex. No doubt, the Peak's hardcore investigative team had been activated.
As one of the ugly monsters lunged for his leg like a land shark, Dangerous grabbed its neck--no squeezing it to death given the titanic shielding--he gave it a mighty toss and kept seizing more of the terrible critters throwing them to the side.
He heard a familiar crunch. And another...
"The Rex family is here," White Fang shouted to him. "Keep feeding them."
Catching the rat-slick tail of a fleeing chunky gargoyle, Dangerous swizzled his head. Sure hell enough, the entire T-Rex family had arrived.
Dangerous flung the beastie to Guy Rex. Daddy of the clan, a tank of a dino, he chomped the snack with great satisfaction. Dangerous kept flinging him treats.
All six of the Rex children, scampered about snatching the intruders, then feasting.
"Doris," White Fang hollered to Momma Rex. A struggling gargoyle in each hand, he lifted off the ground carrying the live food to Doris's open jaws.
Soon after cheers erupted from the faes, the enemy mostly eaten or routed...
Except...
Dangerous stuck a boot out, halting the last bio-made gargoyle. With a soccer kick he sent it toward Marigold, the youngest Rex daughter. She'd been chasing it.
"The best cleanup crew ever, eh?" White Fang drily remarked.
"Quite wolfie cowboy handsome." Kymbra slipped her hand down the silky lapel of his vest. "I can'i seem to resist. You're getting to me."
"Before I turn to really bad-boy wolf..." Dangerous nuzzled her cheek, sensuous, tender...his fur stroking her face. He took her hand leading Kymbra inside the old-world spook-tacular, spectacular mansion, Pasha and White Fang's home in the Peak town of Moonrise Lake.
Sexy beautiful witches partnered with elegant, powerful, dapper, suave warlocks, wizards, werewolves, werecats, and other supernatural characters...Kymbra couldn't stop staring. She whipped her head back and forth. "It's strange, occult paranormal strange...but this feels real."
"Kymbra, welcome." Pasha, stunning, a knockout in her scarlet witch's costume, held out har hands. "Welcome to our humble abode."
"Humble?" Kymbra raised her brow and grinned.
"Of course, it's not our exquisite time in Egypt-Atlantis, is it, Kymbra?" With an inviting smile, Pasha charmed, "how about I show you the eats? I doubt the cowboy fed you properly."
Attired as his Super Wolf Man self, White Fang approached handing Dangerous a brandy-coffee cocktail. He briefly palmed his shoulder. "I've never seen Pasha take to anyone like she has to your Kymbra."
"I assume it's their ancient Egyptian connection." Dangerous took a swallow of the superb concoction. "Vanilla and Grand Marnier," he praised.
"Yes, the connection. However, there are others who share such. A special friendship, perhaps."
Dangerous gave a nod. "Quite the intruder frolic today...hoot and howls."
"Hoot and howls, those bio-Frankenstein gargoyles were a warm up for Samhain celebrations." White Fang took a healthy swallow of his drink. "Looking forward to this year's Graveyard Ghosties and Werewolves with our Peak teenagers."
"Yep, a good scare keeps them on the straight and narrow," Dangerous quipped, then grinned like his wolf self.
"Nothing like a fiendish jaws and claws attack."
The two clinked glasses.
Scene: the large town square in Wolf Peak's big town of Moonrise Lake--which is surronded by a Halloween decorated park called Spooksville for the season.
Kymbra smiled, truly astonished by Dangerous's costume--a childhood favorite character from a black & white TV sitcom "Oooh, you are too cute...like always. A werewolf version of My Favorite Martian."
"Your approval, darlin', is the gravy on my chow."
Arm in arm, they walked along the night, moon-graced path
"Okay, I enjoy parts of Halloween, for sure. But so not a fan of this scary, spooky-ooky stuff," Kymbra groused as the Danger Man stopped, wrapping the long witchy cape around her shoulders. "Don't like horror bloody movies either. Don't like Friday the Thirteenth stuff."
"Beautiful witch." The Danger Man's eyes gleamed with desire. alright. "The children are going to adore you. Don't mind their costumes, Kymbra, a lot will look super realistic."
As her brain flash-connected the dots, Kymbra rolled her eyes. "Do you mean similar to Pasha?"His hesitation gave it away. "Yep. similar abilities. Nothing to fear. You're one of us, Kymbra."
"When did I sign on the bottom line?" she snarked, even as she trembled inside over him--the dangerous sexy beast.
His lips grazed her ear. "Since I signed you up."
Her breaths quickened. "Oh you're impossible."
"When it comes to you...always," he seductively growled. Embracing her hand within his, the Danger Man encouraged, "Can't disappoint the trick or treaters...the little ones."
"No...we can't."
Fiercely startled, his gorgeous witch jumped clinging to him.
"It's okay, darlin'. Fred," Dangerous scolded, "stop that, you bad werewolf. Go frighten the kiddies."
Dang it howls, Kymbra felt sexy-delicious hugged against him. So much so, he mentally tamped down his hardening cock.
"He's a teenager," Dangerous explained. "You know how rowdy and wild they can get."
"Yeah," she sarcastically muttered, "how rowdy and wild were you?"
"Darn tame. sweetheart. My uncle worked me to bone tired--lots of warrior trainin' too." As her gaze met his, her eyes sparkly in the moonlight, he added, "I plan to make up for that lack courtin' you."
Something flickered in the depths of her eyes--an untamed fire, like a bright streak of lightning. Dangerous knew then that no man had touched her inner fiery spirit.
"What is it?" she asked at his silence.
Mesmerized, he uttered, "Run with the wolves...do you want to run with the wolves?"
She scrunched her brow, wondering at his words--unaware of his observation.
"Dangerous...Danger," the small girl's voice hailed him. Adorable in her witch's costume, Ursha ran toward him. She flung her arms around his neck.
Lifting her, Dangerous twirled around. "Wanna treat, little girl?" he teased.
"You know," Ursha twisted toward Kymbra, "He's mine. We're getting married."
It took Kymba a breath, then... "Congratulations. When is the date?"
"When I'm old enough..."
"Ursha," her mother appeared, "what did I tell you about that?"
"Mom..."
Dangerous set the little girl down.
"No, no arguing. We'll talk later." Also witchly, fabulously attired, Uriella took hold of her daughter's shoulders. Facing Kymbra, she introduced herself, then offered, "I've been looking forward to meeting you. Keep this handsome man hogtied."
"Sure," amusement tinged her tone. "I keep practicing, but he's a slippery one. Nice to meet you. And you too," Kymbra addressed Ursha.
"Treat?"
Dangerous presented the pumpkin-shaped basket he'd been carrying over
one arm. "There's one of your favorites. Berry nut bars."
Somewhat
mollified, Ursha carefully selected the plumpest homemade bar. "Thank
you," she politely spoke. "They are my favorite."
"Come on, Miss Precocious," Uriella gave her daughter a smile, ushering her away.
"Wow," Kymbra accepted his arm, "how many admirers do you have? ...Waiting in line for matrimony."
"Too
many to count," he kidded. "The sacred pumpkin grove." Dangerous
grandly announced as he escorted Kymbra to their rock-shaped throne.
Jumping, glistening with excitement, several children waited. "ET wolf," they chanted.
"Martian wolf, My Favorite Martian Wolf." Dangerous growled, threatening them with a show of his fangs.
Hopping about, the kidlets screamed and laughed at the Danger Man. Some leaped grabbing for his furry wolf ears. He playfully avoided the mock attacks.
"Oh, they're so cute." Kymbra seated herself, picking up another basket of goodies.
Soon she and Dangerous doled the treats out at a frenetic and fun pace. The smiles gladdened Kymbra's heart. It had been so long.since...
Teardrops rimmed her eyes for instants.
Once the line of children slowed the smaller ones began climbing onto Dangerous's lap as if he'd suddenly changed to Santa Claus.
"Give me a wish, beeuutifull witch." A little boy with a mop of dark curls and the face of a mischievous cherub clambered onto her lap as Kymbra opened her arms.
"What kind of wish would you like? Frogs, snails And puppy-dogs' tails..." Kymbra sang as she gathered the boy close.
"What? My name is Thomas High Feather." He gave her a curious glance.
"Of course it is...I was remembering an old, old saying."
"Oh."
"That's a wonderful name.Thomas."
"No. I want to be Thomas Pony Feather. That's my wish. Please make it happen."
Flummoxed, Kymbra rapid-fire her thoughts searching for a solution. "Okay...so shall it be. I decree it. The Great Universe will grant your wish. But you have to act to bring it about, too."
"i can do that. I need a pony so I can show my name."
"How about starting with a pony winter hat? Several of us are making animal hats as Christmas gifts."
"Oh please, yes...can I have black pony hat...please."
Before Kymbra could respond she heard, "Thomas, son, where are you? Your sisters and I are ready to go home."
"Over here, dad. I'm with the beeuutifulist witch."
"Dangerous, my man."
"Wind Blade, my man." Standing, Dangerous stretched out his hand. "Your son is quite the charmer. No surprise given his Dad."
"You haven'i met my daughters, River Rose and Earth Pearl."
"Ladies." Dangerous held out the treats basket. "Lovely to meet such little lovelies."
Their wide sparkly grins was his reward. "You know we have an equestrienne program for the youngsters...your son, your daughters, if they're hankerin'for riding horses."
"Dad..." Thomas began, the pleading in his voice. He took hold of his father's hand.
"We'll talk about it tomorrow...thanks, Dangerous, see ya on patrol in a few days."
"See ya, Wind Blade and those drone killer falcons of yours."
Kymbra rose beside him. "Drone killer falcons?"
"He trains his hunting birds to attack 'n destroy the smaller drones our enemies send over Wolf Peak."
"That's cool. I'd like to see that. I'd like to be trained to shoot the drones down...you know, Annie Oakley style."
Dangerous smiled inwardly. "Your wish is my command, darlin'." He wrapped his arm around her dainty arm.
After another swarm of enthusiastic beautiful children received their goodies, the goodnight queen fae arrived announcing the evening's end.
"Tired, Kymbra? Or would you care for a stroll beneath the mystical moonlight?" Dangerous used his gentleman's speak.
"Do I get a kiss, Martian Wolf?" she flirtatiously teased.
"Two if you'd like."
"No rushing the courtship," she bantered hugging his arm as he led her toward the walking trail.
Relishing her trust, once again, Dangerous howled inside--a wolf's mating song.
Have I ever felt this magical inside...this floaty...this...
Kymbra screamed. Bats, straight out of a damn nightmare, a whole horde, streaked toward them--imitating a fighter squadron on a mission.
Before she could utter Omygawd Dangerous whipped around placing her firmly against a huge tree trunk. "No problem," he promised. His confidence washed through her. Strangely. Like a wizard's potion.
Barely able to follow his super fast movements--leaping twists, spins and kicks--Kymbra watched the viciously attacking creatures swatted, batted, punched, and elbowed. Their limp bodies splatted into the surrounding trees. a tattoo of eerie sound.
That is, until Dangerous launched the last one from toe of his boot while still high in the air.
He landed in a fighting stance. Carefully, the Danger Man scanned the area. Nothing flew at them.
Moments later, a flurry of sound owned the night. "Enjoy the free dinner," Dangerous called out, a chuckle in his voice.
"More than amazing," was all Kymbra could say as he approached. She leaned away from the tree.
"Gotta protect my woman."
"My own Martian Wolf hero," she crooned.
Their gazes merged. Desire stormed between them, fierce and fast.
With a sweep of his arm the Danger Man captured her against him. He seized her lips with his.
The long sexy, sexy kiss wildly sizzled her, head to toe--forever capturing Kymbra. Forever...only she wasn't aware...yet. Dizziness claimed her.
They stood face to face, body to body, the sweet passion flowing like a swift untamed river.
"What was that, that...those bat things?" she asked long moments later. Kymbra trembled.
Dangerous embraced her close, cherising his woman. His depth of feeling increased every day now.
"Bad neighbors." He raggedly sighed, wondering how to explain. "Black magicians took Talbot Peak over about seven years ago. It's why Dante and Kitty, and a large group left, moved, establishing Wolf Peak Territory."
"Black magicians sent that horde?" She shivered again. Briefly.
Dangerous nodded. "This time of year there are cracks in the dimensional field. They slip those pesky little assaults through."
"Yes," she murmured after heaving in a breath. "I sense it, the dark spell."
Kymbra shuddered and Dangerous felt the flash-arrival of her wisdom. Her gaze, her eyes shimmered into him, then became the cosmos.
"Bottomless cruelty versus boundless love...the war between good and evil."
Dangerous stroked his hand through her hair, always an enchantment to his senses. "Yes, the war between good and evil."
Their souls joined, an idescribable yet subtle bliss--for several infinite moments.
Hearing the clip-clop of his horse's hooves, expected, Dangerous turned them. "Ghost to the rescue," he announced.
"Oh, he's gorgeous, entirely gorgeous."
"Only the best ride home for my witch princess."
Once the white stallion halted before them, Dangerous lifted Kymbra astride...
