My Sexy Saturday ~ vampire friends

FEATURED AT TITLE MAGIC ~

Sexy Saturday kisses, everyone.

Here's a snippet from my New Year's Eve erotic shapeshifter menage, starring Sherilyn and her two heroes, Zance and Dontoya. However, this scene stars Dante. He's an alpha wolf secondary character, who is the owner of the Interspecies Pleasure Club. Within the club he's built the Midnight Stardust Supperclub, and the grand opening is on New Year's Eve. To make certain there are enough dance partners for the ladies, Dante has invited his VAMPIRE friends.

"What are you gonna do about that man?"

Wednesday howls and yowls, shapeshifter lovers.

Okay, warmer temps on the tame prairie for right now, at least. And even sunny skies today.

So, finally got this week's flash scene written. It's a continuation of Sheriff Roy and his bobcat beauty, Xanya's love story. They do have a definite 'thang' for each other, alright. Their animal-shifter chemistry has been perfuming the diner.

Okay, this flash is from Xanya's POV.

~~~~~~
"What are you gonna do about that man?"
Xanya bustled back from the table of four she'd just served with breakfast platters fit for felines. They were Siberian Tigers, and rumor had it the four—two men, two women—were long lost relatives of Serghei, a WFF mountain of a man, who was an assassin working for Zhere Ghan, leader of the Tiger Yakuza.
Zhere Ghan's luxurious, isolated compound was located deep in a rock-infested, forested area, and his ninja soldiers patrolled the surrounding area in concert with Dante's perimeter patrols of Wolf Peak Territory. No one doubted the Ghan's criminal brand of ruthlessness. Yet, of late the elder tiger shifter seemed content to rule his empire, and let sleeping wolves and dogs lie.
As Xanya understood it, two years past Zhere Ghan had allied himself with Dante against a greater enemy, the Ophylus, a secret, octopus-tentacle organization devoted to exterminating every last shifter on planet Earth.
"What are you gonna do about that man?" Jess asked, interrupting Xanya's thoughts. She gave a nod toward Sheriff Roy.
Xanya couldn't help it. Despite her resolve, she glanced over her shoulder as Roy stood. He offered his handshake to the sheriff and deputy candidates who were about ready to depart.
Holy heat wave, he towered above most of the other male shifters. Sine she'd already collected their empty plates, and Dante had taken care of the bill beforehand...well, there'd been no need to return to the table.
Besides, Xanya decided it would be a wise move on her part to ignore Roy's presence. So she'd concentrated on doing her waitress thing.
Not that she didn't have seduction plans for later. Yeah, she always had those plans brewing for Sheriff Roy.
Yowls of desire! Oh, to sinuously wind around his handsome, larger-than-life frame as woman, yet like the cat she was.
Before Xanya knew it, several pants burst from between her lips. Getting control of herself, she flashed Jess a smile. "What do you think I should do about him?"
"Hunt him down, honey. Lick that big cowboy body of his... and—"
"Jess, got a problem back here," one of the other waitresses called from the kitchen.
"Right there," Jess hollered back. "Always something, isn't there?" Giving Xanya a wink, Jess spun toward the kitchen.
Determined to keep her distance from Mr. Tall, Broad-shouldered, Ride-Into-the-Sunset Handsome, Xanya moved toward the beverage station for a glass of cream-rich milk. Between customers, she was taking a much-needed a breather. Besides, Jess encouraged them to take breaks whenever possible.
Savoring, Xanya took a long swallow of farm-fresh milk. Oh yeah yowlsa, wouldn't she love to ride off into the sunset with Sheriff ram-man ... yep, perched in front of him atop the saddle... cuddled inside his big strong arms...
Xanya nearly whipped around, hearing Roy's deliberate yet light tread behind her. Somehow, she managed to force herself to remain still, even as every fiber of her stilled, stiffened with awareness of him. Even her inner bobcat ruff stood on end.
"Miss Xanya." His voice boomed inside her. Yet, he'd spoken in that quiet, deep way of his.
She turned toward him, alive, explosively alive in every little tiny cell of her. Clutching the milk glass way too tight, Xanya looked up and up, finally meeting his gaze—meeting dark eyes with banked fires just for her.
He'd removed his Stetson, and his thick, sandy brown hair had sprung to life. The golden-tipped curls on his neck tantalized her fingers. They tingled, itched to stroke through those curls.
To distract herself, Xanya twisted enough to set her glass down. "Roy..." she began. Good gosh, she sounded breathless.
"Miss Xanya, would you care to accompany me to the Saturday night dance?"
"Yes," flew from her lips before he'd finished speaking.
"If you'll give me your address I'll arrive for you. Like a gentleman should." He paused, his forehead knitting for a moment. "Unless you'd prefer to meet somewhere else."
Xanya fumbled in her pocket for one of her portrait-artist business cards. "Here...here's my studio address. I live below." A rush of breath escaped. Finding her voice again after their fingers brushed, she continued speaking. "I...what time, handsome?"
"Dance begins at eight, Miss Xanya. How about seven, and we'll get a bite to eat. Your choice of restaurant."
Xanya had to smile. "Not much choice yet. Around here." She leaned back a bit, her posture becoming flirtatious.
"No." He cracked a small smile. "Town's still growing. I'd suggest dining at one of the Pleasure Club's establishments. But the tunnel isn't finished."
"No, it's not." Xanya gave her hair a shake, flipping the ponytail she'd tied back for work. "How about O'Malley's Gin Joint? I hear his place has steaks and fries to die for."
"O'Malley's it is, Miss Xanya. Been there a few times since Keirnan moved the Gin Joint outta TP. Hope you don't mind some of the rough characters that dine there regular."
"I have a big handsome sheriff to protect me," Xanya crooned, wishing like all get out she could run her fingers down his large, large chest. She clenched her hands into balls. "Have a favorite color...Sheriff?"
"Color?" Confusion glinted his eyes.
"Mmm." Xanya cleared her throat, hoping to lessen her sultry tone. "The color of my dress."
His gaze penetrated for an instant. "Match the color of your eyes. But truth to tell, Miss Xanya, whatever you wear will suit me...more than fine."
Slow and easy, Xanya let her smile take over. "Whatever you say, Roy. See you at seven. On Saturday. I'd better...better get back to work."
"Jess'll take a frying pan to me if I keep you away from servin' the customers." He spoke in a teasing tone. After sweeping his Stetson back on, Roy gave a tip of his hat to her. "Seven, Miss Xanya. I'll be dreamin' about it."
With that, he spun on his heel, and sauntered toward the door, his long stride making short work of the distance. Damn, and fan herself, his cowboy ass was just too fine for words. Xanya stared, her inner cat yowling appreciation—her cat tail slashing back and forth.
Yep, she was going to seductress-hunt him down, and lick her long, tall, naked, hard-muscled sheriff, until he begged to be hers. Xanya trembled all over for an instant, clinging to the edge of the counter.
Gathering herself, she pushed away. Oops! Xanya caught a glimpse of her nipples. Even through her bra, they stood large and proud, and made obvious points in the crisp fabric of her uniform.
Celebrating the Full Wolf Moon
Of course, this is a major happening in Wolf Peak Territory. Not only will there be much howling and yowling in the snowy great outdoors beneath the Great Luminous Orb, known as the Full Moon... but there are also little celebrations for the shifter-supernatural children during the day... and later, the adults play. All of the nightclubs and eateries inside the Interspecious Pleasure Club are having a variety of fun howling and yowling Full Moon events, depending on your fondest desire ... that is, from disco dancing to cowboy saloon drinking, gambling, and dancing ... to the elegance of the Midnight Stardust Supperclub, and it's swing band. Oh, and there's the Bohemian Club, owned and run by the silver god wolves family... they cater to women only... or maybe you want your own private pleasure room where your sexiest fantasy comes true.
Hey Kitkats, wintry cold on the tame prairie with a thin covering of snow... there have been lots of wild critter tracks as this Big Cat treks down to her mailbox... she so wishes she'd been trained as a child in recognizing animal tracks... okay, squirrel and rabbit tracks... raccoon tracks, and coyote tracks... but some critters' tracks aren't so obvious
...seduced by a wildcat shifter...
Icy-cold howls and yowls, shapeshifter lovers.
Yep, frigid one-degree temps hit my tame prairie a couple of days ago.  Fortunately, we're in the 20s now. On my trek back from the mailbox, I caught a glimpse of the young herd of deer who have been hanging around. And this morning, one of the young golden eagles swooped from a nearby tree, the moment I gazed out my window.
Again, it's taken me the entire day—with plenty of interruptions—to pen another  flash scene starring Sheriff Roy and the Bobcat Beauty. This scene is from Roy's point of view. Please enjoy.
btw, I haven't been able to find a suitable pic for Sheriff Roy. So John Wayne will have to do. ~grins~
~~~~~~

...seduced by a wildcat shifter...

Yep, a thunderbolt shot through his cock.

Hell.

Nothing like being seduced by a wildcat shifter, Roy decided, given his big head still functioned enough to decide anything. By Xanya's expression, he realized downright quick she hadn't meant to use that sultry tone.

Yeah, the innuendo, but not that sexy, sexy voice.

Roy cleared his throat, and repositioned himself so he could view her face easily. Her high cheekbones were stained with a red flush, only making her more beautiful to his eyes.

As a gentleman Roy wanted to help Xanya out. 'Though, he wasn't certain how.

Damn sure enough, everyone at the table fastened their gazes on him, waiting for his reaction. Avid interest, to say the least, brightened their eyes.

Yep, the air blanketed him, heavy as his ram coat in winter.

"Thanks, ma'am. I'll do the pourin'." Roy spoke in his most respectful voice.

"Of course...right, Sheriff. Be right back."

Xanya's voice had been shaky around the edges. But she'd managed a dignified retreat. To his mind, anyway.

His sheriff and deputy candidates still trained their gazes on him, every single one of them. And their mouths were straining to keep smiles from forming. Dammit, their interest hadn't lessened, not one darn whit.

Roy gazed right back, leaning forward, but not so his elbows hit the table. "Ma'am," he addressed the one lady, "fellas, any more questions?"

"You said three townhall meetings, all of them streamed on RiseTube at peak viewing times for those who can't attend." Luke, a wolf shifter, and weapons expert, intensely eyed Roy. "Has Dante set up a schedule?"

"Not yet, the community net system is a bit twitchy," Roy answered. "And we're still making certain everyone who wants to be online is. Protectin' the system is another matter."

Roy paused, unable to avoid seeing Xanya load a tray with glasses of milk. What the 'f'? Did he have to go live in a cave, become a damn hermit? So her curvy gorgeous assets didn't tempt the bejeezus out of him?

"Dante's cyber team assures me," he continued, "it won't be long before all the gov and hacker bugs are squashed. Permanent like."

"These cyber boots are made for stompin'." Eliza, the lady bear shifter, sang in an amused tone. A martial arts fighter, and constitutional lawyer, she'd given up her human-world practice, to join with their supernatural community.

"Once Moonrise Lake and Wolf Peak Territory has a bonafide sheriff," Rafe, the cougar shifter cowboy began, "are we reachin' out to the Oathkeepers and the CSPOA?"

"CSPOA?" Xanya cheery-voice questioned. She busied herself placing their glasses of milk before them.

Given no one else spoke up, and all eyes turned on him, Roy drawled, "Stands for Constitutional Sheriffs and Peace Officers of America."

"Ever heard of Sheriff Mack?" Eliza asked. "He's human."

"Yes...now I know what you're talking about." Xanya made a show of setting his glass of milk and the chocolate syrup before him, but this time she concealed the seductress well enough. "Jess has mentioned him as a good role model for our sheriff. What do you think of him, Sheriff Roy?"

"A standup man who's fought the good fight, and has the people's best interests at heart." With a slow hand, he picked up the bottle of chocolate syrup, and swirled the dark liquid into his milk, as he'd always done when growing up.

Yep...Roy silently chuckled at himself...some habits were hard to break. 'Specially when Xanya's fragrance filled his nostrils, and her beauty corralled his gaze.

Dammit, anyone with a working shifter nose knew he was carnally perfumin' the air over Xanya—as she was for him. No hidin' it. 'Course, they weren't the only ones with desire-activated hormones. Thank the Good Lord.

And it was a darn good thing, Jess's hubby, Jackson Action, as he was known, had installed that industrial-sized air purifier.

"Everyone okay?" Xanya started clearing away the empty dishes as a chorus of 'okays' answered her. "Oh, and Jess said we've got gooseberry pie.".

"Slices all around?" Roy asked.

"A show of hands." Xanya looked around, taking count. With a last glance at him, she departed.

Those lovely eyes fired right inside him, sparking up his lust. Again.

Roy resisted squirming his dang butt on the chair. He'd never had that problem before. The woman was undoin' him.

"Right now," Roy spoke into the sudden silence, "Dante is explorin' whether to contact Sheriff Mack, given who we are. The CSPOA is a transparent organization, and we got our shifter secrets to hide."

"We surely do," Luke agreed. "Depending on who gets elected for sheriff... and those of us who are deputized..." he pulled in a breath, "what I'm sayin' is, Cody here is mostly human. He could make contact, and offer assistance outside of Wolf Peak. We'd learn the inside baseball on what's happening in the rest of the country."

"Yep. Not a bad idea." Roy nodded, thinking about the possibility of joining forces with the good-guy and gal sheriffs, and gatherin' intel. "We'll take it up with Dante. But first we gotta focus on gettin' everything straightened away here. And watchin' our behinds when it comes to Mayor Gilbert. I hear, from my sources, he and his Talbot Peak pals are still gunnin' for Dante and Daemon. They're claimin' to state law enforcement that they're being harassed."

"Harassed!" Eliza straightened as if she was about to jump out of her chair. Certainly flames leaped inside her dark eyes. "I know for a fact—friends still living in Talbot Peak—that's a bunch of absolute bunk."

"I know. I know." Roy held up his palm. "But they got some kind of vendetta goin'. I'm guessin' it's because so many have moved out of town."

"There's a glut of houses for sale," Cody piped up. "I was just down there, scoutin' it out, and talking with Dante's spy gal, getting the latest info for him. Nobody in Talbot Peak knows me, since I just arrived. I've known Dante for years," Cody explained when several of the others pointedly glanced at him. "When Dante left Talbot Peak to protect Kitty from his sire, he headed west. We met as bikers, and rode together until he headed off to Europe. But we stayed in contact all these years."

"That's the deal." Rafe picked up a fork, twirling it. "I was wonderin' why you two were so tight."

"That's the deal, Rafe, my cougar man." Cody trained his gaze on Roy. "Far as I was able to tell, bad blood is brewin'. The mayor and his pals are bad-mouthin' us. Any excuse will do, it seems. But they've got to watch their shifter hides too. I don't doubt they've made complaints to state law enforcement, to state agencies, against Dante. However, there's a little matter of actual proof...which they don't have."

"Yep, no proof." Roy set his darn tasty chocolate milk down. "Unless they decide to manufacture it.. That's my concern."

"Anything serious happens, it'll pop up on the state computer system," Eliza stated, her manner confident. "And we'll be able to expunge it right quick."

"Headin' trouble off at the pass. Always a good thing." Roy watched 'trouble' head toward them with a tray of sliced pie. 'Cause damn, he was in mucho trouble, wanting a woman probably half his age. Yep, more than he'd ever wanted a woman. His cock twitched mightily in agreement.

My Sexy Saturday~Waiting For a Filly Girl

Art ~ Pegasus First Flight Mythical by Sue Dawe

Fantasy Art Print Poster at ~amazon.com~

Featured at TITLE MAGIC blog ~ MY SEXY SATURDAY blog hop.

Sexy Saturday kisses, everyone.

Okay then, I'm about to finish my SHAPESHIFTER SEDUCTION *WIP* ~Waiting For a Filly Girl~ and start the editing process. This novel, a shapeshifter erotic love story, stars Keina as the heroine, and Drev as her hero. This is the first time I've written an actual *boy meets girl* type of romance for publication.

Tagline: Ex super-soldier boy meets winged filly girl. Will they live happily ever after? In Wolf Peak Territory anything is possible.

~~~~~~
Note: Keina and Drev are celebrating Christmas Eve as the Midnight Stardust Supperclub, located inside Dante's Interspecies Pleasure Club.
Seven paragraphs from Chapter Fifty-four ~
As Keina flew into his embrace, Drev intimately teased, "Waiting for my filly girl."
Keina bounced to her tiptoes, landing a sumptuous kiss on his lips. Drev roamed his hands over her small naked back, over her satin-soft skin. He kissed her with all the primal and volatile passion inside him.
"About my surprise," Drev began once their lips parted.
...surprise gift for her hero...
Wow, what warm temps today on the tame prairie, around sixty degrees... of course, the cold is moving back in, but the sunny warmth was definitely welcome. Stay warm, most darling kittens.
~~~~~~

Authoress news and mews ~

Okay then, the Kougar is writing Chapter Fifty-four of her WIP, WAITING FOR A FILLY GIRL... so, the *happily ever after* is here... while the Kougar hasn't done a word count lately, Keina and Drev's erotic love story is probably around 67,000 words at this point... currently Keina and Drev are celebrating Christmas eve, and she has surprise gift for her hero at the Interspecies Pleasure Club.
Hopefully the final chapters will be written soon, and then it's on to editing the manuscript... and honestly, the Kougar doesn't know what to do about cover art, given her current tight-money situation... so, miracles needed.

To keep her fire-hot desire for Sheriff Roy...

Wintry howls and yowls, shapeshifter lovers.

Yesterday, on my tame prairie, I watched a young herd of deer graze in what passes for my front yard... what a treat, given I rarely see them. ~smiles~

So, once again, it's taken me all day to pen this followup flash scene to last week's flash, Sheriff Roy and the Bobcat Beauty. This scene is from Xanya's point of view. I hope you enjoy.

~~~~~~
To keep her fire-hot desire for Sheriff Roy...
To keep her fire-hot desire for Sheriff Roy from flaring out of control, Xanya busied herself, speedily taking and delivering breakfast orders. Thank the Big Cat Goddess, she could focus like a laser when needed. Plus, she truly enjoyed bantering with customers. And it meant good tips.
'Course, she kept Roy, and his meeting, in her peripheral vision as much as possible. His commanding presence yet laid back, respectful manner had fiercely attracted her from the first. That is, after noticing and panting over his 'tall-in-the-saddle' assets.
With his rugged handsome features, his strong chin, his piercing dark golden eyes... his yum-hunky, all man physique, he should have been starring in one of those old TV Westerns her mother was always watching. Good gracious-yowl, his chest was a block of carved granite.
Xanya loved a man's chest—running her fingertips, the feline claws she could morph down a chest like his...what was she thinking? She'd never seen a chest like Roy's...on further thought, she'd never seen his bare naked chest, not yet, except in her fantasies...although, he'd recently come into the diner wearing a long-sleeved, waffle-knit, dark gray shirt that had molded itself to the sculpture that was his chest.
"Oops, sorry," Xanya halted her quick steps just in time to avoid colliding with Jess, who was carrying an order.
"You're forgiven, honey. I'm that moony-eyed over the Mister. Good thing, he's in the office mostly managing the business stuff, or fixin' whatever needs fixin' around here."
Xanya could only smile her understanding as Jess swept past her, intent on providing good service. Happy customers meant repeat customers.
Collecting her thoughts as she picked up an order of the flapjack special for a table of four, Xanya steadied herself and tamped down her 'wanting to rage' feline hormones. After all, taking aim at the ram shapeshifter sheriff wasn't going to be easy. No, not at all.
Xanya didn't need to bear witness to his shifter side. She had a super-working predator's nose. The mountain air smelled damn good on him—all that pine and fragrant vegetation. To her nostrils outdoor scents were pungent, even in the dead of winter.
Earlier, the potent fragrance of Sheriff Roy's rutting passion for her twitched her nostrils.
"Here ya go, gentleman. Dig in." Xanya spoke as she set their plates before them, then loaded the table with various syrups and jellies.
And really, who cared if her sheriff was technically an herbivore? Her human father rarely ate meat. That had never presented a problem for her bobcat shifter mother, who still claw-madly loved her father. Their married love affair was mutual.
Besides, not only did she want to cuddle up against Roy, skin to skin, feel his large frame embrace her...but Xanya wondered what it would be like to curl up against his big ram body as her bobcat self.
"Orders up for the sheriff and his guests," Jill, one of Jess's daughters, called out.
Together, the two of them loaded the rolling cart, then wove their way through the tables. Having an excellent memory, Jill, who had taken the breakfast orders before the Sheriff's arrival—she now announced the placement of each plate. Once accomplished, they covered every inch of the large table with side dishes and baskets of biscuits.
"Refill, Sheriff?" Xanya singsonged, that is, once she filled everyone else's coffee cup.
"Thanks." Roy held up his mug. After she finished pouring, their gazes connected. But Roy put the kibosh on that quick enough.
Xanya flashed a grin at him, anyway, then asked. "Anything else, gentleman, lady?"
"We're good," chorused around Xanya.
"Just give a holler, if you need anything." The sound of folks hungrily diving into their food followed Xanya as she spun around, and departed.
Big Cat Goddess! Xanya heaved in several breaths. If she hadn't been pushing the cart, she would have been tempted to fan herself.
At first sight, she'd longed to paint a portrait of Sheriff Roy. The longing had been so ferocious—as she watched him speak with his nephews, Zerlo and Dilesco—that the painful pangs consumed her whole.
No sirreeee, bobcat...that had been no lie on her part to lure the tall, broad-shouldered sheriff into her feline clutches. Vivid images of her at her easel painting him had Xanya halting before she ran into anyone or anything.
Yeah yowls, she was most excellent at daydreaming. For moments, Xanya shook her head vigorously.
Regaining her focus, she moved toward the kitchen, and stowed the cart. As she checked on the next order, whiffs of Roy's carnal desire mercilessly teased her nose.
Sure enough, her hips responded, swaying with more sultriness as she carried two flapjack-loaded plates toward a mother and her young daughter. Xanya smiled widely, enjoying the child's squirmy enthusiasm. "Lots of whipped cream, just like I promised."
Once she left the table, Xanya wondered who else noticed her hot-to-mate scent, along with the Sheriff's. Although, to sensitive animal shifter noses, she and Roy weren't the only ones. That was for darn certain. Those human-undetected odors crisscrossed the diner.
Darn? she asked herself. I'm going country western already.
While she was no city girl, having grown up in an outlying suburb surrounded by a wooded area...and okay, her mother remained a devout fan of Western movies and books...yet now, living close to Moonrise Lake, she'd suddenly been  immersed in real Western culture...and like a hand stroking her cat fur, the culture was definitely rubbing off.
"Can't miss the sheriff's virility, can you?" Jess ribbed in a whisper as she passed by.
No, there was no missing Sheriff Roy's bold brand of virility. From the corner of her eye, Xanya saw one of his guests waving her over. Immediately, she wheeled in their direction.
"Any chance we can order glasses of milk?" A young, cougar-shifter man, who looked like a cowboy fresh off the range, asked. "We didn't notice it on the menu, ma'am."
"We never know how much supply we'll have," Xanya explained. "Today we've got cow and goat's milk on hand, courtesy of Kalindi's Ice Creamery shop. Everyone want a glass?"
"Kalindi has the best organic milk and cream," the one woman at the table enthused. By her fragrance, Xanya figured she was some kind of goddess-supernatural, similar to Kalindi.
"What would you like?" Xanya asked, then quickly took everyone's order. "Would you like a glass, Sheriff?"
"Add the chocolate syrup, and I'll drink a tall cold one." His gaze devoured her for mere seconds.
Xanya tilted her head flirtatiously. "I'll bring the bottle of the chocolate syrup, Sheriff. You can add how much you'd like. Or I'll do the pouring, and you just tell me when."
A loud silence enveloped Xanya. She knew why. Her voice had become seduction itself. Oh no!
Sheriff Roy and the Bobcat Beauty
Not exactly a Sheriff type, but he's still lookin' cowboy-tasty...
Howls and yowls, shapeshifter lovers.
I couldn't get my flash scene fully written yesterday.  Wow, way too much going on. It's absolutely crazy.
Okay then, this flash scene *might* be the beginning of a short story I have in mind.
Sheriff Roy Lawrence Ramroth, a new character from a previous flash scene, is the star. Seems like this tall-in-the-saddle hero is about to meet his match... but we'll see...
Sheriff Roy and the Bobcat Beauty
Comfortable with the blizzard blowing around him, Sheriff Roy, ram shapeshifter, crossed Main street in the small town of Moonrise Lake, Montana. His long stride ate up the distance fast, and with the street mostly clear of snow...well dang, in minutes, he was reaching for the door of the diner, the Wildcat Moon.
"Mornin', Ms. Jess." Roy tipped his trademark Stetson, and gave her a friendly grin.
Jess, a bobcat shifter and one helluva good cook, invitingly held up the coffee pot. "Got your joe ready, Sheriff, and your table all set up. Flapjacks, bacon, eggs, waffles, hash browns, steak...anything you want, we're fixin' it for you and your guests."
"I sure do have an appetite for your brand of cookin', Ms. Jess. I'm hopin' for a big basket of your biscuits to start. Any of that Huckleberry jam still left?"
"On the way, Sheriff. My oldest, Janice is bakin' biscuits now. She's best at it." Jess turned feline-gracefully, moving toward the large table at the back of the diner, which was covered by a red gingham tablecloth.
"By the way," Jess paused in her steps, then winked knowingly at him over her shoulder. "Xanya will be here shortly. I'll make certain she's your waitress."
Dammit, Roy cursed himself as he pulled out one of the sturdy chairs...if he wasn't blushing on the inside. Yup, a downright fiery heat there was no quenchin'.
Hellfire, he was too darn old and smart for this—chasing after a younger woman.  His cock disagreed, giving a mighty jerk.
Every morning his shaving mirror let him know he'd become gray at the temples. Gawd above, Roy derisively asked himself, why would Xanya, a lovely, Brigitte Bardot-curvy woman, be interested in his courtin'?
Yep, even with his centuries-old life span.
Besides, their pedigrees didn't match worth a running headbutt into a mountainside. Seating himself, Roy watched Jess pour the good-smellin' coffee into the large porcelain mug nearest him.
Before he could say something about not sending Xanya his way, Jess whipped around. "I'll go round up those biscuits. Farm fresh butter too," she called back.
 "You know how to spoil a man." Roy cradled his mug, took several moments to savor the aroma, then took an appreciative swallow. Yep, the more time he spent in Moonrise Lake, the better he liked it.
Dante, the werewolf alpha of Wolf Peak Territory, sure knew how to set up a working town in a dang short time. But then, the teams he'd brought together from those who were loyal to him, and those who just wanted the hell outta Talbot Peak, were topnotch in their abilities and smarts.
Already, opportunities abounded for a better life here. Jess being a prime example.
She, her mate, her two daughters and son, wanted their own family business.  Jess, having managed a restaurant at a truckstop for years, had jumped at the chance to set up and run her own dream diner. Given the bobcat clan liked slinging hash, as they jokingly referred to it, they'd all settled into a regular work routine.
Praise for their organic hashbrowns, and their mid-western farm cooking, had spread like wildfire, causing their clientele to grow rapidly.
Roy focused on enjoyin' the breakfast aromas, and his coffee. Until Xanya sashayed inside the diner. She wore a full-length, faux-fur coat that resembled a bobcat's coloring. The large glamorous hood framed her beautiful, cat-like face, and Roy nearly jumped in his seat along with the aroused jump of his cock.
To confuse the situation further, he'd never been attracted to a predator shapeshifter before. Over the years, his pleasure companions—and there'd been many who shared his bed, since the loss of his wife—they'd all been herbivores like himself.
Although, in his human form, his appetite was that of an omnivore. A good steak fit the bill often. Roy figured it was because his ancestors were mountain men, cowboys, who'd made the West their home since the early 1800s.
Xanya sensually removed her winter coat. That is, after a subtly flirtatious look in his direction.
Roy could do nothin' but watch her hips sway as she walked into the kitchen. He shook his head briefly, wondering how a waitress uniform could look so dang invitin' on a woman.
Not like the woman was wearin' heels and baby-doll lingerie. Nope, the getup was modest, service oriented for a family place.
Roy gulped down the rest of his coffee, thanking the Good Lord it had cooled enough not to burn his throat. But hell, no doubt about it, he had to get over this absurd infatuation.
He poured another cup of joe from the coffee pot Jess had left on the table. So what if the sexy cat gal had eyes for him. Maybe she routinely flirted with several male customers.
Relieved by the distraction, Roy gave Janice a teasing grin as she placed a basket of linen-covered biscuits, the butter, and a wire tray of syrups and jellies in front of him.
"Huckleberry jam," she announced. With a smile, she pointed to the jar. "Anything else before your guests arrive, handsome?"
"No thank you. They should be arrivin' soon. Then we'll put on the full feed bag."
"Right. If I may ask, are these candidates for being sheriff in Moonrise Lake?"
"Yep." Roy gave a nod. "That and being deputies for Wolf Peak Territory. Once I explain what the duties are, Dante is going to hold an election, and you all can decide who you want as sheriff."
"Sure thing, we do need a good sheriff. Keep the peace and all that." With another smile Janice departed.
Roy wasted not a darn second. He parted the linen napkin, reached for one of the freshly baked biscuits, then slathered on the butter. On top of the melty butter, he spooned on the Huckleberry jam, and popped it in his mouth.
Mm-mm. Nothin' better in the world...except for Xanya moving toward a family, who had just entered. Unable to remove his gaze, Roy watched the beauty take the order from the corner of one eye.
As he understood it from Jess's 'seemingly' offhand comments, Xanya's mother was Jess's cousin, and a full bobcat shifter. However, her father was human. Yet, he was an esoteric shaman type, able to shift into various animal forms using magick. Not the dark sorcery of the skin walkers—according to Jess—but the ancient-tone rituals of Atlantis, then ancient Egypt.
Roy knew of those rituals. During one of his Indian Jones' adventures in Egypt, back in his youth, he'd observed several such tone-inspired ceremonies. Deep inside an underground pyramid chamber, he'd watched the secret cult members morph for a short time to lions, to an Anubis like dog, then to camels.
His presence had never been discovered. Roy figured it was because he'd shifted to ram, and remained in the shadows barely breathing. Yep, they'd been on the psychic lookout for human intruders alright, but weren't obviously sensitive to intruding animals.
To his eventual relief that particular secret cult turned out to be on the good side, only wanting to preserve the most ancient knowledge. Roy smiled at the memory, and reached for another biscuit.
"Sheriff, good to see you again." Xanya's silky voice vibrated through every dang inch of him. "I sure would like to paint you."
"Paint me?" he nearly choked out, but managed to keep his voice even enough.
"I'm a portrait painter. This waitressing gig is only for earning enough money to set up my studio."
So, that was her interest in him. Good. The heavens be praised.
Roy eased his gaze toward her. Xanya's smile could have lit up the entire Montana sky. And her eyes, her gorgeous eyes were like crystals with blue and gold specks.
"Sure thing," he drawled. "We'll talk details sometime down the road. What's your goin' rate?"
"Oh, I'm certain we can come up with a suitable arrangement...Sheriff." The corners of her luscious lips flipped up into a sassy smile. Then Xanya was spinning around, and sashaying from him.
Damn, and wham his hard-headed ram noggin against a concrete barrier—as he'd done charging after a bad guy—yep, the woman knew how to mightily upend his day without breaking a sweat. Then again, she was feline, half of her, anyway.
Like the cavalry arriving to save his ass, Roy caught sight of his sheriff and deputy candidates pouring through the diner's glass door. He stood and waved them over.
